Did you know WHOLE GRAINS including oats, rye, whole wheat, barley and their products, are one of a variety of foods that are extremely beneficial to maintain & grow the healthy bacteria in your large intestine? That's right the good bacteria in you gut feed on these 'whole grains' due to their unique prebiotic fibres! 

Without smart carbs such as our whole grains, you may compromise the health of your gut bugs. This may increase your risk of depression or anxiety, indigestion, gut infections and or inflammation and even symptoms of irritable bowel disease including bloating, gas & constipation. 

The smart carbs & other whole grains listed below contain different types of fibre, protein, minerals & anti-oxidants such as Vitamin E, very beneficial to enjoy and include in your diet! And if it helps - perhaps think of your good gut bugs like your dog or cat - they need nourishing & feeding every day, so feed them with the good stuff!

  • Any unrefined whole wheat, oats, barley or rye products - including bread, wraps & rolls
  • Buckwheat, Amaranth, Teff, Farro, Quinoa & Spelt
  • Brown, Red, Black & Wild varieties of rice
