Symmetry Williamstown Team Abby Speakman
Abby Speakman
Physiotherapy

Abby graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Charles Stuart University in 2009. Since this time she has worked extensively in private practice in Melbourne and recently spent 2 years working in London.

She is a former Victorian and Australian Lacrosse player and is a keen runner. She has worked with state and national lacrosse teams in the past and has also been the physiotherapist for local football teams.

Abby is highly trained in treating a wide variety of injuries from neck pain to ankle sprains. She has a passion for treating sports injuries and strives to get her clients back to exercising as soon as possible.

She received extensive training on running analysis and coaching whilst working in the UK and loves working with runners to help them achieve their goals.

Abby has completed training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute and can teach both mat work and reformer Pilates.

Katie Sandford
Physiotherapy

Katie enjoys working with patients to achieve their goals through an active and collaborative approach to enable them to return to exercise and living as quickly as possible. She has experience in helping patients of all ages, especially in the area of falls prevention.

She has previously worked with touring teams in the national road series cycling, and indoor netball at both national and world series. She has also been the physiotherapist for local football teams and state or national level gymnastics. Katie has a passion both personally and professionally for running/endurance sports, snow sports and rock climbing. She has undertaken extra training in running rehabilitation and bike fits.

Katie has recently completed her Masters in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy in 2021 as well as a Grad Certificate in 2018. She graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the university of South Australia in 2013. She has a special interest in sports, having worked extensively in private practice and sporting coverage of various levels.

Outside of work Katie enjoys staying active through running, mountain biking, climbing or snowboarding. She loves to cook, read and has recently discovered a passion for vegetable gardening.

Emma Bradwell
Physiotherapy

Emma’s has a unique dual qualification in both Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology which provides her with additional expertise in strength and conditioning and exercise prescription on top of her hands on Physiotherapy skills. She places a high emphasis on a holistic approach to tailor the appropriate care for each client and their individual needs and has an interest in a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

Emma believes not just early in injury management but empowering and educating clients allowing them to benefit from treatment long term. Emma uses a variety of treatment methods including manual therapy and exercise-based techniques and has also completed her Dry Needling certification and is qualified to deliver the GLA:D program for hip and knee arthritis.

While not working Emma enjoys a variety of sport and physical activities including cricket, cycling and walks with her Border Collie Casper.

Jason Pongracic
Physiotherapy

Jason enjoys working with all types of people, and all areas of the body, but has a special interest in sports injuries and back/neck pain. Jason prides himself on using the most recent research evidence to inform his practice, but understands the importance of putting his patients at the centre of their treatment plan. He is a big believer that people “don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care” and he keeps this philosophy front of mind when working with his patients.

Jason joined Symmetry in 2022 after returning from 3 years working in the UK where he spent time gaining valuable experience working in both the NHS and private sector. Prior to moving to the UK, Jason spent 3 years working in private practice in Melbourne’s western suburbs after completing his Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Physiotherapy Practice at La Trobe University in Melbourne in 2016.

Jason has completed further professional development in the area of musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy including courses specifically focused on the shoulder, hip and knee. He has also completed the Australian Physiotherapy Association Sports Level 1 course, as well as the necessary qualifications required to use dry needling as a treatment technique.

Jason has been the team physiotherapist for both semi-professional and social Soccer and Australian Rules Football teams. He is also a high-level athlete himself, playing in the VFL for Frankston and Williamstown for the previous 7 years before moving to the UK.

Outside of work, Jason has returned to Williamstown VFL Football Club where he will have a unique joint role as player and team physiotherapist for this season. He also enjoys spending time with family and friends and watching a good TV series.

Victor Chea
Physiotherapy

Victor has a strong passion for working with people, empowering them to achieve their goals, big or small. From rehabilitating an ongoing injury impacting their sports performance, to building a patient’s capacity to play with their grandchildren, he believes everyone should receive the care they need to live life to its fullest. He is experienced in working with chronic musculoskeletal, neurological, and metabolic conditions such as tendinopathies, stroke, autism, multiple sclerosis, and diabetes.

Victor first graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology. Following that he has worked as an exercise physiologist in both private practice and community health services to provide care to a wide range of patients in both Sydney and Melbourne.

Having recently graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Doctor of Physiotherapy degree, he is keen to culminate all his study and experience into greater outcomes for the people he works with.

Outside of physiotherapy, Victor enjoys finding different places to eat in Melbourne, does both MMA and weight training, and enjoys going on hikes.
