Meet our Williamstown team
Abby graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Charles Stuart University in 2009. Since this time she has worked extensively in private practice in Melbourne and recently spent 2 years working in London.
She is a former Victorian and Australian Lacrosse player and is a keen runner. She has worked with state and national lacrosse teams in the past and has also been the physiotherapist for local football teams.
Abby is highly trained in treating a wide variety of injuries from neck pain to ankle sprains. She has a passion for treating sports injuries and strives to get her clients back to exercising as soon as possible.
She received extensive training on running analysis and coaching whilst working in the UK and loves working with runners to help them achieve their goals.
Abby has completed training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute and can teach both mat work and reformer Pilates.
Carleigh is passionate about helping her clients achieve their goals with the aim to improve their overall quality of life. She has a particular interest in treating women’s health conditions, spinal presentations, ankles, and acute injuries, however, has experience treating a wide range of issues across the body.
Carleigh can also perform Pre-Pointe Assessments for dancers.
Carleigh has completed further training in Clinical Pilates, dry needling, sporting injury assessment and treatment. Currently, Carleigh is working as team Physiotherapist at Williamstown Soccer Club. In the past, she has worked with local men’s and women’s Aussie Rules football clubs.
Carleigh draws on her experiences to reduce pain and then strengthen the area for a sustainable approach to therapy.
Outside of work hours, you will find Carleigh eating her way through Melbourne’s restaurants one at a time, and travelling once borders open back up! She loves going for a walk and challenging herself at the gym.
Alistair has a clinical interest in sporting injuries of the lower limb including pre and post-operative rehabilitation for ACL reconstructions, tendinopathies, muscle strains and ankle ligament sprains. In addition, Alistair is passionate about evidenced based management of hip and knee osteoarthritis.
Prior to undertaking his Doctor of Physiotherapy at The University of Melbourne, Alistair worked in strength and conditioning for several years after attaining his Bachelor of Exercise Science from La Trobe University. During this time, Alistair worked with elite athletes at the Carlton Football Club in Sport Science and Performance Analysis. When Alistair isn’t at Symmetry, he works with footballers at Williamstown FC in the VFL and Pascoe Vale FC in the EDFL.
Starting next year, Alistair will be involved in a La Trobe University randomised controlled trial that will study the effects of an injury prevention program on injury rates in women’s football. In the coming years, Alistair plans to undertake additional post-graduate training in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy.
In his time off, Alistair enjoys keeping active through running, swimming, cycling and strength training. Alistair is a foodie that loves exploring Melbourne’s restaurants and bars on the weekend.
Katie graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the university of South Australia in 2013. She has a special interest in sports, having worked extensively in private practice and sporting coverage of various levels. She completed her Graduate Certificate in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy in 2018 and is on track to complete her Masters later in 2021.
She has previously worked with touring teams in the national road series cycling, and indoor netball at both national and world series. She has also been the physiotherapist for local football teams and state or national level gymnastics. Katie has a passion both personally and professionally for running/endurance sports, snow sports and rock climbing. She has undertaken extra training in running rehabilitation and bike fits.
Katie enjoys working with patients to achieve their goals through an active and collaborative approach to enable them to return to exercise and living as quickly as possible. She has experience in helping patients of all ages, especially in the area of falls prevention.
Outside of work Katie enjoys staying active through running, mountain biking, climbing or snowboarding. She loves to cook, read and has recently discovered a passion for vegetable gardening.
